How well you do has a lot to do with how well you are supported to do. 

This is not to say you should put all the blame on the company if you don’t do well. 

Because at the end of the day, someone who is determined to succeed will find his way, will push and ask for that support and will do everything in his power to get things done. 

However, in a good company with a good structure and support, you will waste no time learning things from mistakes. 

Commission split

Commission split is commonly 50/50. If you are offered a higher commission, find out at what cost. lower commission percentage could be because you are offered temporary Basic salary or a car so find out and evaluate. If you are a Fresh Starter note that, Real Estate Brokers work on commission only, without Basic salary. You might be offered a temporary basic salary at a lower percentage of commission to get started with. 

Brokerage Culture

Although your job is mostly out and around the properties, you will spend a lot of time in the office doing your fundamental works like marketing, following up etc. No one wants to be in a Toxic Environment. Ask to have an office tour, chat with other brokers, and feel the space and the culture. Winning and Friendly team will help you grow.

Leads and Listings Generation

Find out how leads and listings are generated in the company, is it solely by the Broker or there are email campaigns or advertisements set to help the Brokers to get more Business. You should not rely on this of course, as a broker, you should generate your own listings; however, if they do so, it is a great advantage and is a positive indicator. 

Find out about Leads and Listing Allocation

As a Broker, it is best if you work with an area focus, so you can learn faster and grow faster and master that area as an expert. Find out if the company works in specific areas and how areas are distributed. Note that there are a hundred of Brokers in one area. There is no problem if other Brokers are working in an area you want to work with; however, if the company website or advertisement generates Leads and Listings for those areas, how those leads and listings are distributed

Learn its reputation

Research about the company on the internet, Social Media networks, don’t just apply blindfolded. You want the brokerage you select to have a strong market presence and a good reputation. 

Trainings and Mentoring

It is very important that you have the support for professional and personal development. Some brokerages are very active and offer extensive mentoring and training so you might want to pick the Brokerage that cares and guides you through the Processes. 

Admin and Marketing support

Perhaps this is the most important thing. As a Broker you will have so many different tasks to handle in a day, hopefully, if you get busy and start closing deals, you will be closing and handling enquiries and so much to do. You need admin support, marketing support and a good CRM system to focus and get organized so you can work on multiple deals with ease and less stress.
